FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Colorado State football continues to rack up verbal commitments from all over the country. As of Monday night, the Rams have 14 verbal commitments from 10 different states, including most recently, Pennsylvania and New Mexico.
Over the weekend, the Rams picked up a verbal from Andrew Garwo, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback from Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania.
“First off, I would like to thank God for blessing me with this gift to play the game of football,” Garwo said in his commitment video.
“I would like to thank my parents for the sacrifices, countless hours, and love put into helping me fulfill my dreams. I’m grateful for my brothers, Patrick and Josh, for always encouraging me and pushing me to be the best that I can be on and off the field… Thank you to all the coaches that gave me a chance to pursue my dreams at the next level. I’ll be committing to Colorado State University. Go Rams!”
According to 247Sports, Garwo holds 25 Division 1 offers. That said, Addazio has long been connected to the Garwo family and actually signed Andrew’s older brother, Patrick, while coaching at Boston College.
In a previous interview with 247Sports, Garwo said of the Rams’ first-year head coach: “Coach Addazio was the first coach to take a chance on me when he was at Boston College. I will be forever grateful for that. He has stayed on me since getting to Colorado State. Coach White has been recruiting me hard. My parents and I have a great relationship with him.”
Then, on Monday, the Rams picked up another verbal for the offense with the commitment of Chance Harris.
Listed at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds in his Twitter bio, Harris is a three-star pro-style quarterback according to 247Sports. Along with CSU, Harris also holds an offer from the University of New Mexico.
As a sophomore in 2018, Harris completed 132-of-254 attempts, totaled 1,548 passing yards and finished with 14 touchdowns through the air. As a junior, though, Harris really put up impressive numbers. In nine games in 2019, Harris completed over 60 percent of his throws (154-of-249) and finished the campaign with 22 touchdown passes and just nine interceptions for the year.
With much of the attention surrounding local QB prospect Luke McAllister, who has been committed to the Rams since November, 2019, Harris’ commitment may be surprising to some. But considering that the Rams haven’t signed a high school quarterback since Justice McCoy back in 2017, it makes sense why Addazio would want to improve the depth at the position for the foreseeable future.
