Rampage Rewind: Week 9—Dec. 4 – Dec. 10, 2015

San Antonio had suffered its worst week of the season with a four-game losing streak that has dropped the team’s win percentage to a disappointing .583, well behind the division-leading Ontario Reign at .737.

The Week in Review

Games

Both games against the Rockford IceHogs were slaughters with Rockford dominating in every area, most importantly on the scoreboard. Joey Hishon, Andrew Agozzino, Mikko Rantanen, and Colin Smith got the goals for San Antonio.

Despite a valiant comeback effort against the Charlotte Checkers, San Antonio left the arena on the losing end of a 3-2 game. Rantanen earned every bit of his second star that night as he scored both of the Rampage goals, one shorthanded. The Checkers stole the win with eight seconds left in regulation.

The Rampage let the lead slip twice in a 3-2 loss to the Stockton Heat. Hishon set up Agozzino for the first goal of the night, but that lead lasted less than a minute as the Heat tied it up on a backhander from Bill Arnold. Dennis Everberg put San Antonio back on top midway through the first, but just four minutes into the second, Emile Poirier tied things up. He added another to secure his team’s win in the third period.

The Week Ahead

Games

The Rampage have another busy week ahead, starting with a home game against the Texas Stars on Sunday, December 13th (4:00 pm CST). San Antonio leads the series with the Stars 3-1-1-0; this will be the sixth of 14 games between the two clubs this season. The Rampage are hosting a Star Wars night, so be sure to grab your light saber if you plan on attending!

December 16th and 17th feature a back-to-back set in Manitoba. This will be the first meeting between the Rampage and the Moose, a team that is struggling mightily this season. The team has won only five of their 21 games and have scored a league-low 35 goals this season—less than half of San Antonio’s production (75).
