In this original BSN Denver series, we take a look at some of the best Rockies’ photography of the last week as well as the top shot in the game of baseball.

Antonio Senzatela helps set a few dubious records on the mound and at the plate during Monday’s victory over the New York Mets. In the first, Senza surrendered a leadoff home run to Brandon Nimmo. The blast was Colorado’s 16th of the season tonight and ties the Major League record with the 2017 Mariners. A whopping 15 have come since the All-Star break, setting the record for leadoff home runs in the second half and nine leadoff home runs allowed at home this season are a new MLB record. At the dish, Senzatela recorded a two-run single, his first hit in a full calendar year. The 0-for-44 hitless streak is the longest hitless streak in Rockies history (previous: Ubaldo Jiménez, 0-for-39, Aug. 31, 2007-June 16, 2008).
During Tuesday night’s loss, Nolan Arenado has his 20-game on-base streak snapped, which was the longest such streak in the National League and third-longest active in MLB. Over this torrid span, Arenado batted .408 (29-for-71) with seven doubles, eight home runs, 18 RBI and a .494 on-base percentage.
Pete Alonso celebrates his 49th home run of the season, helping propel the Mets in their 7-4 victory that came at the hands of a Jairo Díaz blown save. With the sixth inning homer off Jeff Hoffman, Alonso tied Mark McGwire (1987) for the second-most home runs by a rookie in a single season in Major League history; by the end of the week, Alonso would become only the second rookie to ever hit 50 home runs in a season, following Aaron Judge’s record 52 home run season in 2017.
Sam Hilliard slaps five after the first of two home runs on Wednesday against the Mets’ Noah Syndergaard. His first multi-home run game of his career places him beside Trevor Story, Jeff Baker, Aaron Miles, Ben Petrick, and Derrick Gibson as the only Rockies players to record a multi-home run game within their first 20 games.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts gets ejected in the fourth inning by home plate umpire Greg Gibson, becoming the 30th and final skipper tossed from a game in 2019. Earlier in Friday’s contest, Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon went back-to-back against Clayton Kershaw; Garrett Hampson would also homer off the L.A. ace. Colorado entered the game as the only team to ever hit three or more twice in a game against Kershaw.
Raimel Tapia is thrown out at the plate during the eighth inning of Saturday’s game against the Dodgers. The play would be inconsequential in the 4-2 victory that featured Kyle Freeland’s return and five excellent innings by Chi Chi González. The win snapped a 12-game losing streak in Los Angeles, tied for the longest in Dodger Stadium history and only one away from the Rockies franchise record of 13-straight losses in San Francisco from 1999-2001.

Picture of the Week

Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski throws out the first pitch at Fenway Park to his grandson, San Francisco Giants’ outfielder Mike Yastrzemski. After languishing in Baltimore’s minor league system for the past few seasons, the younger Yaz made his Major League debut this year with the Giants at 28-years-old and has been a revelation for the rebuilding club, swatting 20 home runs and earning 2.5 wins-above-replacement.
