I listened to your whole podcast after the Dallas game and I appreciate BSN Denver’s effort to provide serious Nugget coverage, but I am quite surprised that “the advanced stat guys” don’t understand why the Nugget offense had become elite again during Millsap’s injury and how it has struggled and been inconsistent at best upon Millsap’s return. The problem is not just Millsap alone, but most of the problem has resulted from the lineup changes that have occurred from the assumption that “We have to start Millsap because we paid him 30 mil/year and he helps improve our defense”.
Please do a detailed statistical analysis of the before and after return of Millsap and of the effectiveness of the Nugget’s 3 guard offense(Murray, Harris and Barton) with Jokic and with Chandler or Lyles at PF…and just count Plumlee’s minutes at center only.
I think the results will show that both Murray and Jokic play better within the 3 guard offense and that Chandler definitely plays better as a stretch 4 at this point of his career. Millsap can improve and excel more in the Jokic ball/3 guard offense by moving, cutting and setting screens more often than standing and waiting for the ball to get to him.
Scott Hastings is on target when he says that 120 points is Denver’s magic number (on average to win) because most of their identity and talent is on the offensive end. I think that the continuation of the 3 guard offense will have a greater impact on Denver’s playoff success rather than the improved meshing of Millsap and Jokic. Millsap has never averaged more than 19 pts/game in his career. Murray, Harris and Barton are the Nuggets real threats to score 30+ pts on any given night. And Jokic is a triple double machine when our quick guards and shooters spread the floor…Please let the Denver Nugget organization have a “How’s That For Data” moment before the Playoffs??? begin. Thanks.
