Gentlemen: I would be excited to see the Nuggets trade for Otto Porter in exchange for their #1 pick, Kenneth Faried, and perhaps a sweetener. However, it is not clear to me how this can be accomplished and stay below the luxury cap in the 2018-2019 season. The following season it would be no problem. Would they get his bird rights in such a trade, and how would that impact the salary cap and luxury tax? Thank-you.
Thanks for the question. We can get into it on our next show but as long as they match salaries/money since Porter is under contract for the next few years it would work. But yes, they’d be well into the luxury tax.
