This was a fun listen. Sort of a frat party feel to it. I love the Jarred Vanderbilt signing. I’ve been hoping for this. None of us can know how long, or if, his game will continue the trajectory he showed in his abbreviated freshman year in college, but I believe the talent is there. While there is a great deal of discussion on the notion of adaptable/position-less players, power forward still needs the old school tough guy who is going to hit the boards, block shots, and muscle the other guys. That means staying closer to the rim while still providing the spacing for the pick and roll players that are driving the lane. I think that in time Vanderbilt can be that type of player. There are no circumstances under which the Nuggets exercise their team option next year with Paul Millsap. Certainly he might return on a greatly reduced contract, but the uncertainty opens the door for Vanderbilt. I think he will get more playing time in the second half of this season than most are projecting. The other power forwards are really slow wanna be shooting forwards. Yes, Lyles and Hernangomez do a nice job rebounding, but they are always hanging around the three point line. They aren’t enforcers, and their defense is mediocre. There is an opening for Vanderbilt over time to be a starter. They don’t need another scorer. Since he can defend, rebound, and pass, he would be the ideal solution at the position. It just remains to be seen if he can reach his potential. I like the fit.

Thanks! This was definitely a Vegas edition of the show. I’m a big fan of Vanderbilt too. Some people I’ve talked to think he might be able to contribute this season. Obviously, he won’t have that big of a role but he could see the floor if the situation calls for it.
