Good Takes, Harrison. I also forecast Denver to be an elite NBA offense again this year, but only if they stick with the Jokic-led pace and space, ball-movement and cutting formula that creates open shots. Yet, the two challenges that I see so far in being able to maintain the Best Offense in the NBA with the Nuggets is: 1. Millsap (and Malone) need to blend his all-star game into our offense (pace and space, not iso ball)-not the other way around. Millsap deserves all of his money, but off-balance post-ups and mini-drives which he does fairly effectively cannot be the bread and butter of the Denver Nuggets. Yes, Denver needs for Jokic and Millsap to have scoring touches in the post. But, Denver has the Best Offense in the NBA when the ball movement and cutting is so active and fast that the opposing defense cannot keep up. When Millsap allows his scoring opportunities to come after he cuts or sets screens (the screener always gets open) or even when he substitutes as a passer/facilitator at the elbow instead of Jokic, he now will have greater success in the Nugget offense instead of being stuck in ISO ball.
2. Chandler–he had his BEST statistical year last season. So after waiting 6 LONG YEARS due to injuries and to supposedly being behind the small forward depth chart to Gallinari, WHY(???) wouldn’t he want to have a BETTER season this year as the starter? If Denver remains true to their free-flowing Jokic-led offense, Chandler will have a BIG year on both sides of the court. Never forget Dec 15th!
