B seems too high of a grade for Jokic to me. The numbers are great but he’s one of, if not the best, player in the league — he should be graded on a curve. The team goes as he does and he turned the ball over a ton on lazy passes and wasn’t great on defense. I’m glad you pointed out how he rarely interacts with MPJ in a positive way on the court, I’ve noticed that as well. His postgame comments have been pretty illuminating too — I don’t think Porter is Jokic’s cup of tea unfortunately.

Thanks for the feedback. I struggled to reward the actual performance and hold him accountable for the lack of leadership. Considered going lower.

Malone: F

There’s no excuse for leaving Bones on the bench in the second half while the rest of the second unit threw away any legit shot we had at making a come back. There’s no excuse for that Bones-less 5 man unit to ever see another minute together. Why does this man continue to do things that literally everyone else knows doesn’t work? The 10 games of IT (9 too many)? The Plumlee for Jokic late 4th quarter defensive swaps? The seesawing minutes MPJ got his rookie year (which directly led to him not being ready to start in the playoffs)?

Bones is ready. Bones might already be the best offensive player on our bench. There’s a pretty serious chance that Malone won’t have a choice but to rely on him late in the year. We can only hope that Bones has enough minutes under his belt by then to weather the storm of fighting for seeding and head into the playoffs confident and ready to not be played off the court.

The players love Malone. He’s legitimately a very good coach. If he ever figures out how to overcome his stubbornness, he could win his first coach of the year award, and begin his ascension to all time great status.

We have a dynasty capable core. Do we have a dynasty capable coach?

I splurged and sat 2 rows behind the bench last night – and got to see interactions that I normally don’t see from my 300 level seats. Rivers looks defeated. MPJ looks frustrated. Joker is not a team leader. Oh, Malone loves Bones.
