Both Murray’s and Morris’ PER is around 15-16 and they have different ways of being good young players. Maybe Morris gets more opportunities to play with the starters, but the greatest area of need is at the PF position. Millsap was flying around defensively during the 9-1 hot streak, but opposing teams are hitting their shots better now so Denver needs increased offensive efficiency. Juancho has helped at SF. The main questions for me are: Will Millsap be an effective contributor when this young generation of Nuggets make a deep playoff run? Will Lyles get a chance to start like Juancho has? Will Vanderbilt’s injury recover this season so we can see his rebounding and energy with Jokic?

The Millsap question is an interesting one. He’s in year 13. Unless you’re LeBron, it’s hard to be really good in year 14, 15, etc. The hope is that he re-signs on a cheaper deal this summer and contributes for another two or three years. I still think he’ll be effective two or three years from now, even if it is in a bench role.
