According to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, the Denver Nuggets have offered free agent Dwyane Wade a two-year contract valued at more than $50 million. That number is currently the highest reported offer a team has made to Wade.

Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical is reporting Wade will meet with Nuggets officials on Wednesday in New York.

Wade is playing hardball with Miami after the Heat originally lowballed him with an offer around $10 million per year. The Heat have reportedly increased that offer to around $20 million per year, Wade’s original asking price, but the Miami Herald’s Ethan Skolnick reports there’s increasing tension between Wade’s camp and the Heat organization.
Yet, Wade might be looking to cash out. He took pay cut after pay cut when the Heat brought on LeBron James and Chris Bosh and might be looking for the last big pay day of his career.
I still believe Wade ends up back in Miami, but could entertain offers from Cleveland if the Cavs are willing to alter their financial situation drastically. That would likely mean James taking an enormous pay cut to bring on Wade.

The motivation for Wade to come to Denver never made sense to me. A young team that might not even make the playoffs in the tougher Western Conference never seemed appealing to Wade, but he apparently isn’t committed to Miami and is weighing his options as of now.
However, the motivation for Denver to land a player of Wade’s magnitude is obvious. Wade would instantly help ticket sales, attendance, and television ratings, and would also shift the Nuggets back into the national spotlight for the first time in years. The presence of Wade alone would do wonders for the young Nuggets core as well.

The Nuggets have 52 million reasons why they think adding Wade is a worthy gamechanger. Remember, Denver did not display its full talent last year with Chandler out and Nurkic coming back slowly. Then, factor in that Denver could still trade for Millsap or another All-Star and they could have a contending top four team in the Western Conference while still developing their exciting young talent (Mudiay, Jokic, Nurkic, Murray and more…). I think clearly it is a win-win strategy.
Mike Miller, here is the deal. Contact Griffin and Love immediately telling them Wade may be interested. Tell them you will give $25mil for two years, $20 mil for three to whoever bites. Give the same 3 years to Wade letting him know that Griffin (1st) or Love is interested in teaming up. Trade Gallo, Faried, Joff and Harries or Barton to Clipps for Griffin. Then we have Conference contenders in two or three years. Hurry!
