Harrison, nice blog, positive, but not definitive as a strategy. They listened to us about culture and caring for the players instead of publically treating them as used cars. I hope Tim has learned.

OK, what is the 3-5 year strategy specifically? Eg: run, using Miduay/Gallo/Faried/Chandler/Barton, maybe Lavern (sp). Go to half court w/Nurk/Lavern/Jocik. Foremost defense–take chance defense w/Mudiay and Barton leading on steals. What positions appear weak, strong? Don’t have a high caliber shooting guard that can shoot consistently. Harris gets one more year. May see Green finally perform to accolades. If JJ can play smart defense, ok, otherwise, he should be phased out.

Your sequence of events is misaligned. Again, I agree with the premise, but have to say that we have fallen into the positive due to luck; Mudiay. Malone is good in talk and experience, but Josh and Connelly have to be more proactive, instead of waiting to make decisions.

That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised with a 40 plus win season. We are going to beat some of the better teams as we did toward the end of last year. Watch out for Sacramento, Karl is no dunce.

Sorry, I didn’t see this sooner, but I do think there is a pretty clear plan and “strategy” in place. Now that a solid culture is established, the next step is picking up another high lottery draft pick. Once that pick is made, Denver can re-assess where they are. Should they try and attract that free agent like Milwaukee just did with Greg Monroe? Or should they swap some of their assets for a higher-level talent. I would be absolutely stunned if this team won 40 games next season.

What decisions would you have liked Josh and Tim to make that they didn’t?

Not so fast, Harrison. A culture takes a decade to establish, like San Antonio. They currently are the only team that can show that consistency. The decisions Josh or Tim did or didn’t make will be seen this year, and in the next few. Losing Ty because of a dysfunctional culture propels the Rockets to a top contender. If we make the playoffs, great, but I’m not holding by breath. The proof is in the pudding.

Milwaukee changed the entire perception of their franchise over the course of two offseasons, same with Atlanta. If you’re looking for another San Antonio just stop because it’s likely we won’t see another organization like it anytime soon. Houston was in the WCF finals last year without Lawson and adding him doesn’t automatically propel them higher than that. Even if it does, that’s fine.

That’s exactly what I am looking for. A culture where a Lamarcus says I want to play there. We have a long way to go, and that stability should be the main focus. I do see that Josh and Tim learned from their mistakes, but their choices have yet to be proven. We will see what Ty brings playing with Harden. We couldn’t make Ty happy.

I think he’s going to be really good in Houston. He’s the second perimeter ball handler they needed when Harden gets tired but will find himself spotting up for open threes a lot more often
