Grant did Denver a favor by signing with Detroit and the favorable results will evidence itself in these areas: 1. Millsap/Green combo much more efficient and tougher at PF position (If Grant signs with Denver, Millsap likely was headed to Boston and Green may have been motivated to sign elsewhere) 2. Denver will be an Elite-Elite rebounding team with Jokic, Millsap/Green, MPJ plus Barton and BOL BOL (Grant’s rebounding rate was comparable to a below-average NBA guard) 3. Denver, to your point, has a 72 game season to develop and maximize the Jokic/Murray/MPJ trio–this is their Identity until proven otherwise (as such Grant signed elsewhere).
Denver was wise to trade for Grant at that time before last season and when NBA franchises (usually) expect improving results every year, it is the safe and practical move to resign the player that increases the team’s overall talent.
Yet, this is the year of MPJ!

Totally agree that he did Denver a favor by signing with Detroit if it was going to cost $20 million. It’s a huge overpay. Good point on the rebounding too, that’s been a huge key for this team in the Jokic era. It’s trending up.
