7-foot-1 center Ondrej Balvin, who played with the Denver Nuggets at the Las Vegas Summer League, has signed an overseas contract with Bayern Munich, according to various reports.
Balvin only averaged 3.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game with Denver, but it was enough to convince Bayern that he was worth a two-year contract with an option on the second year.
Balvin reflected on his Summer League experience with the Nuggets to BSN Denver via Thomas Jones of EuroBasket.com:
“It’s nice to see how business works in the NBA and Summer League is a good example of it. Honestly, basketball wasn’t so different. It was really individualistic, but my friends who play in the NBA told me that the NBA is something else. I’m really happy for this opportunity to try it and get in touch with NBA clubs. It’s really a different world. They have incredible;e background and service. This all motivates me in the future and set my goals. I know that I need to improve my physical strength.”
The 23-year-old is the first of a few potential names on Denver’s Summer League roster that could wind up signing in Europe if they don’t latch on with an NBA team for training camp.
