The 6-9 forward averaged 6.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game last season and is viewed as one of Denver’s best all-around defenders. Arthur joins a crowded Nuggets front court that already includes Kenneth Faried, JJ Hickson, Nikola Jokic, Joffrey Lauvergne and Jusuf Nurkic who may miss the start of the season while recovering from a torn patellar tendon.
Assuming Arthur’s new deal is guaranteed, Denver now has 15 players with salaries on the books for next season. The Nuggets still have to determine the fates of swingman Kostas Papanikolaou, whose $4.7 million contract becomes guaranteed on Oct. 4 and guard Erick Green, who is only owed a partial guarantee of $100,000.
The exact terms of Arthur’s contract which was confirmed by the team have not been released.
