Hayes, an 11-year pro, played in two games for the Houston Rockets during the 2015-16 season, the same team that drafted him in 2005. The 33-year-old spent seven seasons with the Rockets organization in total with stints in Sacramento and Toronto in-between.
After assistant coaches Chris Fleming, Ed Pinckney, Noel Gillespie, and Dee Brown left the organization this summer, the Nuggets have re-tooled by adding Jordi Fernandez, Chris Finch, Stephen Graham, and now Hayes.
Hayes comes to the Nuggets organization with 2.5 weeks to go before media day on Sep. 26.
