The Nuggets finally released their preseason schedule and just one of their seven games will be played within the friendly confines of Pepsi Center.
Denver will host the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 16 in Denver while their other “home” game will take place Oct. 8 at Coors Events Center on the campus of the University of Colorado – Boulder.
The Nuggets played a preseason game in Boulder last year against the Portland Trail Blazers, a contest that Denver lost 93-75.
The Nuggets’ full preseason schedule is listed below.
Nuggets officially waive Joey Dorsey
General manager Tim Connelly announced that the Nuggets have officially waived Joey Dorsey who was acquired in the Jul. 20 trade that sent Ty Lawson to Houston.
However, Dorsey’s contract is guaranteed for this upcoming season and the Nuggets were set to pay the big man $1,015,421 million. Reports began to surface that the exact verbiage of the transaction was Denver is buying Dorsey out.
Dorsey had already signed a deal with Turkey’s Galatasaray worth more than $650 thousand and Eric Pincus reported that Dorsey will give up $200 thousand of his salary in the buyout.
I see Joey Dorsey taking a buyout for $815,241 from Denver Nuggets, no additional set off @BBallInsiders

As Pincus points out, Denver has also waived their “set-off rights” in this deal. This means that the Nuggets will still have to pay the agreed-upon buyout amount of $815,241 if he clears waivers, regardless of the money he makes playing elsewhere the rest of this season.
HoopsRumors.com has a good breakdown of the “set-off rights” provision here.
The Nuggets now hold 14 guaranteed contracts for next season and still have swingman Kostas Papanikolaou, whose $4.7 million contract becomes guaranteed on Oct. 4 and guard Erick Green, who’s contract does not become fully guaranteed until Jan. 10 to make decisions on.
