Nuggets-Raptors Grades: Nikola Jokic scores sixth-highest DPR this season

The Denver Nuggets fell 114-110 to the Toronto Raptors Tuesday night to drop to 2-4 on their season-long seven-game road trip. Denver’s frontcourt of Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap combined to score 42 points but the Raptors’ bench took over in the fourth quarter.

Here’s how every Nuggets player fared in the loss.

Jamal Murray (C-) 53.49 — 

Denver’s starting point guard is shooting under 40 percent in March and against the Raptors, Murray had another difficult shooting night. He hit just six of his 18 shots and was 2-7 from distance.

Will Barton (C+) 62.82 — Barton was arguably the Nuggets’ best player Tuesday in Philadelphia when he scored a team-high 25 points on 8-15 shooting. Barton hurt Denver with his shot selection Tuesday and finished with just 10 points on 4-15 shooting.

Wilson Chandler (D+) 46.79 — After playing some of his best basketball of the season earlier this month, Chandler has had three-straight single-digit scoring nights. He tallied seven points on 3-7 shooting but did help limit Toronto’s starters on offense.

Paul Millsap (C+) 63.03 — Millsap had a second-consecutive productive offensive game. He finished with 20 points on an efficient 9-12 shooting. The highlight of Millsap’s night was in the third quarter when he scored 12 of the Nuggets’ 27 points in the period.

Nikola Jokic (A) 85.30 — Denver’s most productive player by far Tuesday was Jokic who scored his sixth-highest DPR in the loss. Jokic was everywhere on the offensive floor, chipping in 29 points on 11-21 shooting to go with 16 rebounds and eight assists. He played 40 minutes which was tied for the second-highest amount he’s played in a game that didn’t go to overtime.

Devin Harris (D) 43.46 — Harris’ grade doesn’t reflect it but he’s played well on this road trip. He only hit one of his five field goal attempts but continued to attack the rim all night. Harris attempted a team-high six free-throws in 23 minutes and hit five of them.

Trey Lyles (B) 68.42 — Lyles shot himself out of a funk to piece together his best game of the road trip. Lyles scored 13 points on 5-6 shooting. He shot the ball with confidence and led Denver’s bench to a productive night after the second unit didn’t give the Nuggets much against the 76ers.

Mason Plumlee (C-) 52.01 — Six points and two rebounds for Plumlee in 12 minutes last night. He also finished in the positives in plus-minus (+1). Jokic’s 40 minutes limited Plumlee’s time on the floor.

Torrey Craig (B-) 66.92 — Craig finished tied for a team-high in plus-minus (+4) against the Raptors and hit a three in 15 minutes. The rookie is a versatile wing who can defend but as was the case with the rest of his teammates in Toronto, there were too many mental mistakes on the defensive end of the floor Tuesday — a common theme that has followed Denver this season.
