The Nuggets met with 6-foot-9, Providence forward Ben Bentil at the NBA draft combine this past week, and plan to bring Bentil to Denver for a workout sometime in the near future, according to Adam Zagoria of SNY.

Bentil, 21, played second fiddle nationally to junior guard Kris Dunn all season, but actually put up better numbers than the presumed top-10 pick.

The versatile big, who can play some on the wing, averaged 21.1 points, and 7.7 rebounds this year for the Friars, and shot 32.9 percent from 3-point range. Offensively, he can operate from the block, mid-post and on the wing.

Bentil was one of the more impressive players at the combine this past week, per multiple draft evaluators and his consistent shot and ability to score gives him a good chance to get selected in June’s draft.

He’s projected to go in the second round by DraftExpress, but could move up if he impresses in individual and group workouts. Bentil also measured well at 6’8.25 in shoes and logged a 7’1.5 wingspan. His 9.5-inch hands were also the largest at the combine.

Bentil had “gorgeous mechanics” on his jumper this week at the combine, had range and excellent touch on his shot as well, per DraftExpress. He can create space in 1-on-1 situations, but struggles with his decision-making at times and doesn’t show the best basketball IQ when defenders started closing out on his jumper.

The Nuggets also met with Maryland guard Melo Trimble at the combine, but ESPN.com’s Chad Ford reports that the point guard will head back to school after not getting a first round guarantee.

Bentil’s name ads to a growing list of players the Nuggets have reportedly met with at the combine, which ran through today.
