The Nuggets are hiring Pistons assistant coach Charles Klask to round out their coaching staff, a league source confirmed to BSN Denver.

The move was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

A Livonia, Michigan, native and a graduate of Michigan State University, Klask was most recently an assistant on Stan Van Gundy’s staff in Detroit.

Prior to his latest stint with the Pistons, Klask was an assistant coach and advanced scout for the Nets during the 2013-14 season. He also spent 10 years with the Magic where his responsibilities included video and advanced scouting. Klask previously worked in the WNBA, CBA and United States Basketball League.

Denver had an opening on its staff after assistant Micah Nori took a job with the Pistons earlier this summer with new head coach Dwane Casey, who was hired after Detroit parted ways with Van Gundy. Nori had worked under Malone since the Nuggets’ coach was hired by Denver in 2015.

Assistant coaches Wes Unseld Jr., David Adelman, Jordi Fernandez, Bob Weiss, and Ryan Bowen are all expected to return to Malone’s staff for the 2018-19 season.
