Nuggets assistant coach Micah Nori will not return to Denver next season, a league source confirmed to BSN Denver. Nori, who’s worked under Michael Malone since the Nuggets’ coach was hired in Denver in 2015, is joining former Raptors’ coach Dwane Casey’s staff in Detroit.

The move was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

With the Pistons, Nori will reunite with Casey, who he coached under in Toronto before taking a job with Malone and the Kings in 2013. Nori also has family ties to the Detroit area.

Nori filled a number of roles for the Nuggets over his three-year run in Denver. In 2016 and 2017 Nori coached the Nuggets’ Summer League team before those duties were handed over to assistant Jordi Fernandez this offseason. Wes Unseld Jr., David Adelman, Bob Weiss and Ryan Bowen rounded out Denver’s coaching staff last year.

Fernandez is a logical replacement to fill Nori’s spot on the bench.
