This comes just a day after Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that Mike D’Antoni and Connelly also met Tuesday in California to discuss the vacancy.
Malone, who is known around the league as one of the better defensive minds, lasted just over one year in Sacramento and was let go 24 games into last season.
Before his stint with the Kings, Malone served as an assistant to Mark Jackson in Golden State from 2011-13 and is credited by many with installing a philosophy that established the Warriors as the number one defensive unit in the league this season.
