After a summer of deliberation, the Denver Nuggets started their twin towers frontcourt look for the first eight games of the season.
Through those eight games, Jusuf Nurkic and Nikola Jokic showed flashes of potential but ultimately struggled to mesh together on both offense and defense. The two have spent 103 minutes on the court together already this year but have been outscored 239-205.
Tonight, coach Michael Malone decided a change was needed. Roughly 45 minutes before tipoff the Nuggets announced they were moving Jokic to the bench in favor of Kenneth Faried.
Faried, who started 64 of the 67 games he appeared in last year is averaging 7.4 points and 9.0 rebounds in 23.9 minutes per game this season and will start Saturday night against Detroit alongside Nurkic.
Nuggets starters:
Mudiay
Harris
Gallinari
Faried
NurkicNikola Jokic will come off the bench for the first time all season tonight.
