Nolan Arenado hit by pitch on hand, removed from game

In the top of the fifth inning of the third game against the Miami Marlins, Nolan Arenado was struck in the hand by a fastball from Vance Worley and had to leave the game immediately.

We do not yet know the extent of the injury but any kind of long-term loss of Arenado could have absolutely devastating consequences on a team that is hunting for the top spot in the National League Wild Card.

Arenado is batting .313/.361/.588 with 26 home runs and an MLB-leading 100 RBI. That’s probably why the manager reacted thusly:

We will have more information as soon as it becomes available. The Colorado Rockies season could well hang on the results of this X-Ray.
