NHL Weekend Gambling Primer: Keep it rolling

Another Friday has arrived which can only mean one thing, time for another set of winners. Last week we went 3-1 on our straight wagers and hit on our Trade deadline prop bet with Mark Giordano becoming a Toronto Maple Leaf.

This week we are so excited to make you more money we are starting with the first game on the slate Friday evening.

Buffalo +1.5 (-150) vs. Washington

Buffalo has won 5 of 6 games with the Jack Eichel Reunion starting the streak.

I’ve watched Washington a bunch in the last month, and they look old. Add to that they are basically locked into a wildcard spot, and I just don’t see them getting up for many games over the last month of the season. Buffalo may very well win this game outright but at – 150 let’s take the point and half to be safe.

Colorado vs. Philadelphia u6.5(-120)

The Avalanche have stayed under the number 5 of their last 6 games. Philadelphia beat the Blues 5-2 Thursday to hit the 5-goal mark for only the third time this season (one of the 3 was a 7-5 loss to the Avs back in December). I just don’t see them getting to three goals tonight, so I’ll take the under and cover my eyes.

Dallas vs Vancouver o5.5 (-120)

I was shocked to find out that Dallas overs are 8-2 in March. Vancouver has long been one of my favorite over bets. The book is begging us to take the over, and I hate watching people beg.

This feels like a sucker bet but I cannot help myself.

Tampa Bay -1.5(+100) @ Detroit

The Atlantic Division standings are very close with Tampa, Toronto, and Boston all virtually tied for second. TB can’t afford to mess around; they should spank Detroit. Let’s lay the 1.5 to get the even money value. Worst case we can sweat the last two minutes hoping for an empty net cover.

Why Not ML Parlay +5083

TB -270, ARI +320, COL -425, BUF +170, CHI +170

We are going to change this up a bit this week and sprinkle in some underdogs. I told you about Buffalo above, my Spidey-Sense tells me Arizona is going to sneak one out against Calgary tonight (Insert Shameless plug for PHNX) as they look ahead to the battle of Alberta Saturday, and Vegas is a dumpster fire. So, we are taking three underdogs with two heavy favorites for a stupid 50-1 payout. Bet 25% of what you usually would on this type of bet and pray for the hockey version of March Madness.

Prop(s) to Watch

Cale Makar o0.5 Power Play Points +125

Nazam Kadri o0.5 Power Play Points +135

Makar is a magician on the power play. He routinely saves pucks that would clear the zone against any other human and then whips them across the ice to the tape of Mikko or Nate’s stick. The Flyers have the 30th ranked penalty kill unit with a 71.9% success rate while Avs now have the 5th best Power Play unit with a 24.7% success rate. +125 feels like great value based on all those factors. I added Kadri because I like the +135 number.

Straight Wagers 7-4-1 (+3.38units)

Overall Record 9-8-1 (+18.38units)
