Throughout the offseason, we’ll be profiling players who may end up in Denver when all is said and done with NFL free agency. The Broncos clearly have plenty of holes to fill before they get back to Super-Bowl form and we’ll be examining a long list of players they may choose to help the franchise do just that.

The Cleveland Browns are somewhat of a laughing stock of the National Football League nowadays, having produced a total of 11 wins over the past three seasons and always finding new ways to lose. With all the heartbreak and turmoil that seems to surround this once great franchise, one name stands out above the rest—Isaiah Crowell.

Crowell, an undrafted running back out of Alabama State, is coming off a career year that saw the young back rush for 952 yards and seven touchdowns for his 1-15 squad. His 4.8 yards per average in 2016 was ninth best in the league and included an 85-yard score which was not only a career best for Crowell; it was also the longest touchdown run in Browns History.

Could the Browns’ shining star end up in Orange & Blue?

Strengths

At just 24 years old, Crowell seems to be hitting his stride as he is coming into only his fourth season in the NFL and has improved each season in every statistical category. Not only does No. 34 have a knack for finding the seam and following blockers; he also possesses the hands of a small wide receiver. In 2016, Crowell caught 40 passes on 53 attempts thrown by seven different quarterbacks.

Weaknesses

While Crowell has the ability to find the hole and make the right cut, he lacks the upper body strength break tackles. In 2015, “Crow” averaged only 1.1 yards after being hit, making him rely on his offensive line more than other backs in the league, although that number did rise last season. This problem could, however, be fixed with the right line and coaching.

How he fits in Denver

Crowell’s frame and ability to cut would complement the running style of C.J. Anderson nicely. The combo of Anderson and Crowell could flourish under the guidance of offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and help to make this Broncos’ squad a legitimate threat in the running game. The former Alabama State Hornet also has the ability to stay on the field throughout the season, playing in every game since being signed with the Browns, something Broncos’ backs cannot seem to accomplish.
