The hockey jersey website Icethetics.com revealed an exclusive first look at the new third jerseys to be used by the Colorado Avalanche in the upcoming 2015-16 season. The Avalanche are expected to officially unveil the jersey later.

Having retired the recent “blueberry” third jerseys after six seasons in use, the Avalanche shift gears into more of an homage to the old Colorado Rockies hockey team of the late ’70s and early ’80s before the team moved to New Jersey. This will be the team’s third different third jersey since they began using one in the 2001-02 season.

Notable changes from previous jerseys include the shoulder logo will featuring the Colorado state flag on the left shoulder, a different number font from the normal jerseys, and the 20th anniversary patch features a darker shade of blue and the Avalanche logo, something not found elsewhere on the third jerseys.

Avs fan Jake Dubin recently took pictures of the differing 20th anniversary logos found in the team store.

In a summer filled with minor jersey tweaks, from the replacing of the yeti foot to adding the 20th anniversary patch and now replacing the third jerseys entirely, the Avs still have to officially announce their Stadium Series jerseys.

UPDATE: The NHL accidentally leaked the new third jerseys and to no one’s surprise, they match the designs above.

Notable from this design is the lack of Avalanche logo anywhere on the jersey, the absence of anything on the right shoulder, and also missing is the 20th anniversary patch pictured above.
