DENVER — The league, in their last two-minute report published Saturday afternoon, ruled that the personal foul assessed to Nikola Jokic with 42.8 seconds remaining, his sixth foul of the night, was an “incorrect call.”
“Jokic and Sefolosha engage on the rebound. The contact is incidental and does not affect either player’s ability to retrieve the rebound,” the league said.
After the foul was assessed to Jokic, signaling his disqualification, Michael Malone received a technical foul for arguing the call. The score, which read 108-104 with the Nuggets leading prior to the foul call on Jokic, moved to 108-107 after two Thabo Sefolosha free throws and a converted technical free throw from Dennis Schroder.
Atlanta then won the game 109-108 after Paul Millsap converted on two free throws and Wilson Chandler‘s buzzer-beating floater missed.
This is the second instance this season where the league has acknowledged a potentially game-altering mistake affecting the Nuggets. Denver filed an official protest with the league following their controversial loss in Memphis back on Nov. 8.
