A brief morning skate notebook here, as the Avs host the Dallas Stars for the third time this season, tonight at 6 p.m.

  • Jonathan Bernier will get the start in goal. Bernie has played well of late, so this isn’t a surprise. I do think this will be a very tough game though. Dallas has lost twice in Denver already this season, and Ken Hitchcock is a smart coach. He’s going to make adjustments, and it’s just tough to beat any team three times in succession anywhere.
  • J.T. Compher gets the job tonight on the top line, with Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. Nail Yakupov will take the spot on the second line vacated by Compher, with Alexander Kerfoot and Tyson Jost. Compher was playing with MacK and Rants for much of the third period in the game against New Jersey Friday.
  • Sven Andrighetto goes back to the fourth line, with Dominic Toninato and Gabriel Bourque.
  • Kari Lehtonen will start in goal for the Stars, who have won four straight games.
