With a decision becoming official, the Rockies hope to put all of this behind them as this has been a distraction to the team.
Trevor Story has filled in during Reyes’ absence slashing .266/11/27 including seven homeruns in his first six games, and it will be interesting to see what the Rockies do when Reyes returns.
Reyes will likely report to extended spring training on Monday.
Jose Reyes will lose $7,061,728 as a result of the 51 game suspension.
It is unlikely Reyes returns to the Rockies when his suspension is up on June 1st, as he will most likely need a rehab assignment.
