Melvin Hunt says rest is for injury prevention

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Many people believe the Nuggets are going in full on tank mode for the rest of the season. Despite Melvin Hunt winning six of his first eight contests as interim coach, Denver decided to sit three of their starters in Monday’s loss to Memphis.

After the loss, Melvin Hunt said resting players has more to do with injuries than anything. “We’re in a very unique situation here, having come off what we did last year with so many injuries. We had players with ACL injuries; our owner’s dog had an ACL injury. We had a little bit of everything going on. We have to be very, very careful. We have to be really wise, given the situation that we are in.”

Still a little suspicious that management has decided to just start using this excuse. If players health were really a concern, why did it take them until March 16th to rest anyone.[/vc_column_text][vc_bunyad_ads] [/vc_bunyad_ads][vc_column_text]Screen shot 2015-03-17 at 4.56.15 PM

As it stands now, Denver is five games out of being a top five lottery team. Even if the Nuggets were to start tanking immediately, their chances to really move into a high lottery pick are slim. If this is the direction the team wanted to go they’re about 15 games too late.[/vc_column_text][vc_bunyad_ads]
[/vc_bunyad_ads][vc_column_text]It isn't clear if the Nuggets will again have a full roster on Thursday when they return to action in Houston. With two days off in between games, if player's are again "resting", it will be for a reason bigger than just fear of injury.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
