Mason Muaau flips his commitment from Hawaii to Colorado State

FORT COLLINS — While most of Ram Nation was sleeping, Colorado State picked up its 13th verbal for the 2023 cycle, as Mason Muaau flipped his commitment from Hawaii to CSU late Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound wide receiver out of St. Louis High School in Honolulu, HI., previously verbally committed to Timmy Chang and his hometown program back on June 5.

At the time he was the first player to pledge his allegiance to the new Warriors head coach. In a Twitter post with a committed graphic, Muaau posted: “Change is coming and it starts with home. We (are) doing big things for our state and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

However, after visiting CSU this past weekend, it seems that Muaau has reevaluated where he wants to play. Muaau first posted photos from the trip on Sunday, June 26, along with a thank you message to the entire staff for a genuine visit. Then, on Wednesday, Muaau made it official and posted that he was committed to the Green & Gold.

According to 247Sports, Muaau had 21 catches for 491 yards and four touchdowns as a junior.

While his Hudl film is limited, it is clear that Muaau fits the typical receiver mold for what the Rams like to do. His tall frame will make him a tough cover for any cornerback in the Mountain West. And he appears to have plenty of experience stretching the field to boot.
