WINLESS, POPULATION: CU – The Colorado Buffaloes took the court in Seattle on Wednesday, squaring off against the Washington Huskies the Buffs entered winless in conference play. While CU got out to a big 15 point halftime lead behind a five-of-10 three point shooting first half, they weren’t able to hang on as UW had a strong second half, winning 85-83 in overtime, keeping the Buffs as winless in Pac-12 action.

Future lottery pick Markelle Fultz finished with 37 on 13-of-24 shooing, adding 11-of-15 from the stripe. Fultz tacked on eight assists and five boards as well.

For the Buffs, they had two stars, Derrick White and Xavier Johnson, the combined for 47. White was inefficient, shooting 9-of-24 from the field, Johnson was 10-of-19. White supplemented with eight assists, Johnson did with 11 rebounds.

While the Buffs finally got their rebounding numbers where they needed to be their defense failed them as well as 10 second half turnovers.

“Our defense is just letting us down, they had 24 at halftime and ended up with 85,” Tad Boyle said. “We couldn’t get stops, we couldn’t get key rebounds, it’s really disappointing. This group is right there, we should be 3-3 not 0-6.”

The Buffs extended a lead to 17 points right after the halftime whistle, that ultimately dwindled down with the clock as the game went to overtime.

The overtime went much of the way of the second half. While the Buffs found themselves up late and then again with an opportunity at the end, they never had momentum.

The Buffs are set to take on Washington State on Saturday, the game will tip at 2:00 as CU looks to avoid an 0-7 start to conference play and an evening of their record to 10-10.
