After getting blown out by Kansas State five days ago, Colorado State has now lost two games in the final seconds. The Rams (8-5) suffered a tough road defeat to Long Beach State (4-11) Thursday night by a final score of 56-55.

Neither team could get anything going offensively. CSU shot 32 percent from the field while LBSU shot just 31 percent. The Rams did take advantage of turnovers by the 49ers, scoring 14 points off their mistakes. Larry Eustachy’s crew also took advantage 22 second chance points.

However, CSU got outrebounded once again as LBSU held 56-45 edge on the glass.

The 49ers led for the majority of the game, though the Rams made it interesting late in the second half with a 12-0 run with about six minutes remaining. LBSU led 46-43 at the time.

A Gian Clavell layup gave CSU a temporary 53-52 lead with 1:53 to go. After the 49ers regained the lead with a dunk, Che Bob put in a layup of his own to make the score 55-54 with 16 seconds remaining.

Roschon Prince hit a jumper with six seconds on the clock to give the 49ers a 56-55 lead. It was Prince’s lone basket of the game.

Clavell had a chance to win the game with a runner in the lane, but it fell short.

Prentiss Nixon, Nico Carvacho and Bob finished with nine points each to lead CSU. J.D. Paige also added eight points of his own.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Rams will look to snap their losing streak Dec. 28 when they play their first conference game of the 2016-17 season against UNLV. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. from Moby Arena.
