Jenkins signed with Arkansas as a member of the 2015 recruiting class. He appeared in only one game for the Razorbacks as a freshman.
The 6-foot-7 guard, known as Doobie, is from Naples, Florida and played for Florida’s Class 3A First Baptist Academy leading them to three consecutive district championships. He was named District 18 Player of the Year in 2015, averaging 14.3 points per game in addition to 6.6 rebounds.
The Florida swingman was an under the radar recruit and wasn’t given a star ranking by major recruiting services like ESPN and 24/7Sports. Rivals did, giving him 3-star rankings, however. As you can see in this video Jenkins is a big kid with a well built muscular frame (215 pounds), who was able to both post up as well as shoot the mid-range jumper. He also has some hops.
Jenkins will have to sit out the 2016-17 season due to the NCAA transfer rules and will have three years of eligibility remaining while in Fort Collins. He’s an intriguing piece for the future, with some developmental upside and size that was definitely worthy of a Power 5 scholarship, he could be a big get for Larry Eustachy’s staff.
