Legacy Buffs: CU adds homegrown three-star receiver

It has been 36 years since Walter Stanley last put on the pads for the silver and gold (back then it was more like powder blue and silver), he dominated as a return specialist and went on to have a relatively successful NFL career. Now it’s time for his son to carry on the legacy.

Dimitri Stanley, a three-star recruit out of Cherry Creek High School, announced live on 9news his verbal commitment to the University of Colorado.

At 6-foot, 178-pounds, Stanley is a little bit taller than his father, giving him the ability to play in the slot or on the outside. He currently plays on both sides of the ball for Cherry Creek and the CU coaches have reportedly given him the freedom to choose where he wants to play when he gets to Boulder.

Stanley also held offers from Cal, Utah, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisville, Utah State, Nebraska and CSU. The do-it-all receiver was recruited by the guru himself, a former receiver, Darrin Chiaverini.

Stanley is commitment No. 13 of the 2018 and class and he’s the second wide receiver. However, arguably they have four since they nabbed a transfer from Texas Tech (who does not count to the 13 number) and a an athlete that is expected to play on the outside in Jarek Broussard.
