Late rally falls short in another brutal loss for the Rockies at the hands of the Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers just appear to have the Colorado Rockies number right now.

Even when Colorado gets perfection from there starting pitcher for five innings, they can’t seem to mount any kind of momentum against the team that counts to them from the postseason a year ago.

Despite an excellent performance from German Marquez, the Rockies lost 4-3, once again unable to mount anything offensively against former-Rockie Jhoulys Chacin.

The Rockies only managed to record two hits, a double from Daniel Murphy and a soft single by Raimel Tapia until a mini rally in the ninth that fell just short.

The Brewers broke up the scoreless tie in the bottom in a fashion that symbolizes the Rockies overall struggles with this team.

Ben Gamel, of all people, busted the perfect bid with a liner to left that Tapia took a bad route to, getting over his head for a double.

Orlando Arica tried to give himself up on a sac bunt but no one was covering first on a ball in no-man’s land between the mound and first.

Marquez got Ryan Braun to ground into a double play in the ensuing at-bat but that must’ve felt a small victory as the first run of the game crossed the plate.

Milwaukee added three more in the next inning in a far more traditional fashion; a three-run jack for Jesus Aguilar. It was the first time this year the Marquez has surrendered a big number and it became decisive after the Rockies did manage to put a few runs on the board in the final frame.

Murphy drew a one-out walk and scored on a Nolan Arenado double down the right-field line. Ryan McMahon struck out on three fastballs near the middle of the zone but Ian Desmond leaned on one and drove it out of the park to make it a one-run game.

Bud Black went to Mark Reynolds who struck out against Josh Hader to end it.
