After many people have decided to leave Colorado State men’s basketball recently, head coach Larry Eustachy is trying to bring a new young man in.
On Saturday, at the annual Green and Gold Game held by CSU Football, Eustachy was in attendance with Gian Clavell, Emmanuel Omogbo and recruit Che Bob.

There’s Clavell, on the left, shaking hands of fans while Bob is on the right with his “Apaches” shirt on. His high school mascot was the same Apaches, at Arlington County Day High School.
From there, Bob moved onto South Plains College, the same junior college the Rams found Omogbo and Stanton Kidd. Last season, Bob played in 28 games, starting 11, and playing 19.3 minutes per contest. The guard averaged 15.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks per game last year, and the soon-t0-be junior may be coming to Colorado State next.
Bob stands at 6-foot-5 and is the kind of tough-nosed, rebound-first guard the Rams need. Currently, the only newcomer scheduled to play for CSU hoops is Devocio Butler, a 6-foot-5 guard out of Hill College.
With John Gillon and Toby Van Ry leaving the program last night, plus four seniors who already left, Colorado State has five scholarships to fill. Bob would be one of those spots, leaving four more vacancies.
Ross Hodge was the team’s top recruiter, finding many JUCO players over the years to come in and contribute immediately to Rams basketball, but he left on April 6, as did Leonard Perry. Meaning Eustachy also has two assistant coaching vacancies to fill.
If Bob decides to come to Colorado State, we’ll have the story for you here. As well as the other developments surrounding the program.
For now, hang your hat on the optimism that Bob was in town and could be committed to play for the green and gold soon.
