Kaidon Salter

The Colorado football team’s quarterback carousel has come to a halt.

Kaidon Salter returned to the starting lineup on Saturday night vs. Wyoming and had the performance that Buffs fans have been waiting for. Colorado needed to bounce back after last week’s debacle in Houston and that’s exactly what it did.

Here are three takeaways from the Buffs’ 37-20 win over Wyoming:

Kaidon Salter has best game as a Buff

Kaidon Salter watched from the sidelines last week as Ryan Staub got the start at QB and struggled vs. Houston. The Liberty transfer got his number called again in Week 4 and didn’t disappoint, delivering his best performance as a Buff.

Salter completed 64% of his passes (18/28) for 304 yards and three touchdowns. He led four scoring drives, completed passes to seven different receivers and added 86 yards on the ground (7.8 yards per attempt), including a 35-yard rushing TD.

It appears as though Salter has locked up the starting QB role for the foreseeable future. He’s the most experienced and mobile QB on the Colorado football team but more importantly, he’s now playing with confidence.

After throwing for just 156 yards in Week 1 and 102 yards in Week 2, Salter eclipsed 300 passing yards for the first time since 2023 (Dec. 1, 2023 vs. New Mexico State). The Buffs’ offense will be potent as long as Kaidon Salter stays aggressive and decisive.

Dating back to last season, Colorado is now 10-0 when it scores 30-plus points.

Omarion Miller dominates

Omarion Miller reminded Colorado football fans who he is.

After returning from a hamstring injury last week, Miller torched Wyoming for 88 yards and a TD on six catches. His 29-yard TD catch in the first quarter put his elite athleticism on display as he toe-tapped in the back of the end zone for a highlight-worthy play.

Miller is one of the best receivers in college football when he’s healthy. The Cowboys found that out the hard way.

Wyoming also found out about Sincere Brown. The Campbell transfer caught a 68-yard TD in the second quarter, flashing his elite speed and big-play ability at 6-foot-5.

Brown — who is now averaging 29 yards per reception for the Buffs — has catches of 71, 68 and 31 yards this season.

Joseph Williams also got in on the fun and found the end zone for the second straight week. The Tulsa transfer made a spectacular catch on his only target of the night for a 47-yard TD.

Colorado has one of the most talented WR rooms in the country and Kaidon Salter made sure they looked like it on Saturday night.

Colorado football’s defense stifles Wyoming early

Kaidon Salter had a strong performance but Wyoming QB Kaden Anderson cannot say the same.

Anderson completed just 44% of his passes for 176 yards and two TDs. He was sacked twice (including by Arden Walker for a safety) and struggled mightily on third down.

The Cowboys were 0-for-5 on third down in the first half but were aided by four Colorado penalties on third down that resulted in a first down. Aside from the Buffs’ penalty issues (five for 53 yards), they dominated for most of the game.

Wyoming had just 331 yards of total offense with 50 of them coming on one run by Samuel Harris (126 rushing yards).

Colorado’s defense will need an even better performance next week when BYU and true freshman QB Bear Bachmeier come to Folsom Field.
