The Colorado Rockies announced today that right-hander Jon Gray will be the starter on Opening Day in Milwaukee against the Brewers. This was to be expected for quite some time, though a recent bout with a sore foot may have momentarily put Gray’s status for the very first game of the season in doubt.
The game in question takes place at 12:10 PM, MST, on Monday, April 3.
Last season Gray pitched 168 innings with a 4.61 ERA with 185 strikeouts and 59 walks. He received one third-place vote for Rookie of the Year.
