DENVER – Colorado Rockies starting pitchers had a very solid road trip, compiling a 2.18 ERA in ten games. But that doesn’t mean reinforcements aren’t welcome.
Opening Day starter Jon Gray is slowly working his way back from a left foot injury that has kept him sidelined since April, 13. How is he doing in his recovery?
“It’s going well but I’m not running or jumping, or jogging yet,” Gray said.
While this doesn’t really give any indication as to when Gray’s rehab assignment should begin, or even how long he’s going to take on rehab, this isn’t bad news as he’s worked on these things with his boot on, in fact he’s even thrown 50 pitch bullpens. He got the aforementioned boot off on Thursday.
“I still have (the boot just in case I need it,” he added, “but I don’t want to see it again.
“It feels a bit better know but I had to be very very careful (when throwing with the boot on.)”
Gray, once thought to be back for this homestand should be on a big league hill again in the coming weeks.
