ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos are living in a world of suck. Their words, not mine.

A world of suck is no fun for players, it’s no fun for coaches and it’s certainly no fun for fans.

For the organization and diehard fans, there is only one way out of the miserable, sucky world of 0-3. That’s to win—whether it be this year, next year or, for heaven’s sake, many years in the future.

But for players, there’s a magic wand.

Get traded.

Whether that’s through demanding a trade—as has started to happen in the NFL very recently with Antonio Brown, Jalen Ramsey and Minkah Fitzpatrick—or a team realizing it’s time to blow things up and go full rebuild—which also has happened in the NFL very recently, hello Miami.

Sitting winless for the first time through three weeks since the 1999 season—the year after John Elway hung ‘em up—the idea of trading Broncos players has started to fly rampant around Denver and the country.

With talents such as Von Miller, Chris Harris Jr. and Emmanuel Sanders in or near their prime, many believe trading these assets away would benefit both parties. The team could get a decent return as they entered a rebuild, while the player, or players, would get to leave a world of suck and instantly play for a better team.

On Tuesday, Chris Harris Jr., who only has 13 games left on his contract before hitting the open market, was asked if a trade is on his mind.

“Oh no,” he instantly said, emphatically brushing off the notion. “Nah, I’m not worried about none of that. I mean, why would you want to trade me? I’m shutting down a No. 1 receiver every game.”

You’ve got to love Chris’ confidence, swagger and honesty.

But the most important and telling takeaway from the veteran cornerback is about what he didn’t say. He didn’t mention wanting to be traded. He didn’t mention needing to play for a winning team. He didn’t mention that maybe he’ll think about it in the coming weeks.

Instead, it was simple, “Why would you want to trade me?”

If Elway decided to trade Chris it’s because he’s shutting down No. 1 receivers every game and because another team would want him.

Another name thrown around is Denver’s No. 1 receiver—who, much like Chris, has 13 games remaining on his contract with the Broncos.

“I’m a competitor. I love to compete,” Sanders stated with passion on Tuesday. “You’re never going to see me say, ‘Oh yeah times are hard and I give up.’ I’m never going to give up. You guys are going to see me back on Empower Field Sunday trying to get a win.”

Certainly doesn’t sound like a player itching to get out of a down situation the easy way.

“We are living in a world of suck,” Emmanuel said. Living in a world of suck is a military term in which military people say, ‘We’re living in a world of suck, but we’re going to embrace the world of suck.’ That’s always been my mindset.”

Despite an 0-3 start, Chris Harris Jr. and Emmanuel Sanders aren’t jumping ship. As of now, they’re embracing it.
