The 1-0 Denver Broncos were able to limp away from last Thursday’s game with a one point victory, while some are actually limping.

The Orange & Blue will play host to an Indianapolis Colts team who is coming off a heartbreaking four-point loss at the hands of former Bronco Kicker Matt Prater and the Detroit Lions; a loss that adds fuel to the fire of a team who has bested the Mile High Crew eight out of the last nine meetings.

“We work when we have to work no matter what, but the guy throws for 385 yard and four touchdowns last week. He came out from being off last year and now looks like he’s back where he was,” Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips Told Denver media when asked about Andrew Luck. Phillips also added, “It’s a challenge for us.”

Regardless of whom Denver has to face, game planning starts at practice. Unfortunately, some players saw less practice time than others.

“As far as today, [WR] Bennie [Fowler] still did not practice. He did just a little bit of pre-practice. ‘D.T.’ [WR Demaryius Thomas] was limited. He took another step forward I think. [C James] Ferentz, [OLB DeMarcus] Ware, [DE Billy] Winn, [DE Derek] Wolfe,” Head Coach Gary Kubiak said after practice Thursday. “Let me get that right, Sambrailo, Ferentz, Ware and Winn were full. I don’t know how we listed Derek today.”

Two key names on this week’s injury report are Demaryius Thomas and Derek Wolfe, who were both injured in the season opener last week against Carolina. Thomas, who was sidelined with a hip injury, has been making progress throughout the week but will still be listed as questionable for Sundays 2:25MST start.

“Yeah, I am. He ran really well today and particular things that we do for him,” Kubiak said after being asked if he was pleased with the progress of Thomas. “We try to script him the right way so that he’s those reps and not have him wasting running in other areas. We’re just trying to be smart with him.”

No.88 is leaning towards seeing the field Sunday but nothing is certain yet.

“Sometimes you just need a day off,” Wolfe told reporters after practice Friday. “I’m pretty healthy. I’m feeling good. Wolfe, who suffered a neck injury last in the opener, was limited in practice but did participate the last two days of practice.

Only time will tell if the latter half of the “Ware-wolfe” will see playtime Sunday.
