Colorado State football held their fourth practice of the season, allowing members of the media to attend the entire practice session. After originally planning on practicing outdoors, the team held the entire practice at the Indoor Practice Facility on campus.
After practice, head coach Mike Bobo joked with the media, “Whoever my meteorologist is, needs to be fired.”
“The grass was a little wet and slick the other day,” he continued, more seriously. “We had a hard time standing up the whole practice. When I walked out this afternoon, it was still a little bit soft. So hopefully (with) the sun today and tomorrow, we’ll be able to go out on Saturday.”
With the coaching staff emphasizing competition at every position, it was no surprise to see the team come out with high energy to begin the practice. Moving forward, Bobo hopes to see the Rams match that high level of energy and intensity throughout the entire practice.
“I see competition, but I’m not seeing it every rep. That’s what they gotta do. They gotta challenge themselves to compete on every rep,” Bobo said.
“We want to get them to a point where they’re dog tired, where they feel like they have nothing left…We gotta learn to continuously compete for a full practice, not try to survive the practice. We gotta win the day, and not try and survive,” the second-year head coach continued.
“You’re not going to be perfect every play. You might have a bad play, a bad snap, a series, but you shouldn’t have a bad day. You should always compete, and that’s a point we tried to make at the end of practice.”
With 10 practices remaining before the Spring Game on April 23, coach Bobo and the staff will continue to emphasize competition and intensity throughout the spring practice period.
