Juan Hernangomez may have been drafted by the Denver Nuggets with the No.15 overall pick in Thursday night’s draft, but that doesn’t mean he knows where he’s going to play next season.
Hernangomez, a 6-foot-9 forward from Spain who averaged 9.8 points per game last season, could be asked to play another season in Europe before coming to the NBA. For his part, Hernangomez isn’t quite sure what will happen to him.
“I don’t know yet,” Hernangomez said. “But, if I got any possibility to go, I want to.”
Hernangomez joins a Denver Nuggets team already stocked full of international talent including Bosnian Jusuf Nurkic, Serbian Nikola Jokic, and Italian Danillo Gallinari. Hernangomez believes having that kind of foreign talent will help his development immensely.
“Denver has really good European guys,” Hernangomez said. “I think it’s really good. I’m real excited.”
