The Avalanche announced today that Greg Sherman has been named Senior Vice President of Business and Team Operations for the Colorado Avalanche. Sherman’s role with the Avalanche has changed many times throughout his tenure with the organization. The Denver native worked his way up through the organization over the past 14 years, reaching the pinnacle of the front office as General Manager in 2009. For seven years prior to that he was the club’s Assistant General Manager.
When Patrick Roy came into the organization, Sherman was demoted back to being an Assistant GM in 2014. The move brought him back into a role that always suited him: the accounting side of contracts. His new title essentially reflects that position, though according to Josh Kroenke, the title also comes with additional responsibilities.
“As KSE has evolved as a company, my role and duties within the company have evolved as well,” said Kroenke. “Greg’s role with the Avalanche has changed over the years, but his commitment and passion for the franchise has never wavered with different responsibilities. He has been an excellent resource to myself specifically over the past several years, and this new promotion reflects my belief in him as my role within KSE continues to evolve. I look forward to his assistance in creating additional synergy between our Business and Team Operations to help take our organization to another level on and off the ice. All Hockey Operations remain the same and all Player Personnel inquiries should continue to be directed to Joe Sakic.”
