Colorado State’s Gian Clavell will make his season debut Saturday afternoon when the Rams face the University of Northern Colorado.
Clavell, who most people pegged as CSU’s team leader ahead of the opener, was suspended indefinitely following a Nov. 9 arrest on a misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment with a domestic violence enhancement. The 6-4 senior guard from Puerto Rico missed the first nine games of the season, though the Rams went 7-2 without him.
Below is the statement from CSU’s athletic department:
“The University has completed its process of reviewing the incident involving Gian Clavell and his arrest on November 9. In situation such as this, when a student is involved in the legal process, they also go through an independent university student conduct review. With the student conduct review completed by the Student Resolution Center, and Gian remaining enrolled in good standing as a student at Colorado State, the Athletic Department has made the decision to reinstate him to full eligibility for competition, effectively immediately.
However due to the ongoing legal portion of this matter, no further comments about the incident will be made.”
