The first organized team practice for the 2015 season has come and gone for the Denver Broncos. As part of phase one of the NFL’s offseason program, players and coaches were finally able to venture out of the meeting rooms and get together on the field for the first time.

Kubiak met with us in the assembled media on the practice field for the first time and was excited to get his feet wet. “It’s good to get back to work so to speak. Obviously we’ve been very busy as coaches preparing for this, and now we’re operating and getting ready for the draft this weekend. To actually get out here on the field, for me to see all the guys other than just talking to them, it’s been good.”

There has been much speculation as to what a Kubiak-Manning ran offense would look like but neither of them seem too worried about their new partnership.

A little bit of Manning and a little bit of Kubiak. “Like I said, we’re going to do what he does best. Obviously if we run the ball well, which we plan on doing, we’re going to move the quarterback at some point. It will be something that we work on. He has been very excited. He’s been challenged. He said that to me a couple of times, ‘I’m challenged again. I’m having to learn new stuff because I’ve been doing this for so long.’ I think that is good for all of us no matter how long you’ve been in the league.”

Manning has certainly been in the league long enough to adapt to changes. “I like to think I’m pretty versatile, believe it or not.” Manning said. “I feel like I can execute whatever plays the coach calls. I feel the different offenses I’ve been in that I’ve executed the plays that the coordinator has called. I feel like I can do that. I feel good. We’ve been working hard up until now. It’s good to be out here on the field doing some football stuff.”

As for questions about Manning’s age and how he feels physically, Peyton is still his confident self.

The Broncos will conclude their veteran mini camp tomorrow before shifting all of their attention to the NFL Draft this weekend.
