Garrett Grayson the great!
Grayson’s 2014 season was so gargantuan, he’s been named the Nye Trophy winner, which is given to the Colorado State University Male Athlete of the Year. The Nye Trophy has been awarded annually since its inception in 1929, celebrating Colonel E.L. Nye and his brother Dr. William Nye who each lettered in sports while E.L. was also a professor.
2014 was a year for the record books as then-senior Grayson threw for more yards (4,006) and touchdowns (32) than anyone else in school history. He lit opposing defenses on fire while leading the Rams to a 10-4 record and then was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year.
His evolution from dual-threat to pocket passer was phenomenal and he’s continuing to grow all the time, making every Ram fan proud.
In May, he was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. In his first preseason game, Grayson was the second-highest rated rookie quarterback according to Pro Football Focus. Read more here.
