After meeting with the New York Jets Wednesday, former Texans and Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer is headed to Denver to visit with the Broncos, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
The seven-year veteran has spent time with the Patriots, Cardinals, Browns and Texans in his career, starting one game in Arizona and 25 in Cleveland and Houston over the last three years. As a starter, Hoyer owns a 15-11 career record but he has seen his struggles, completing just 58-percent of his passes and throwing just a 38 touchdowns to 26 interceptions in his career.
The 30-year old out of Michigan State started nine games for Houston last season, throwing 17 touchdowns to nine interceptions in that time.
The Hoyer visit is just the latest chapter in a long story of the Broncos quarterback hunt of this offseason and, frankly, another underwhelming option for the defending Super Bowl champions.
Could the Broncos and Texans end up effectively trading a starter from last season? One thing is for sure, Hoyer won’t come with the same price tag that Osweiler did.
