Colorado State offensive Fred Zerblis was named second-team All-American by Pro Football Focus as the publication dished out their 2016 awards Thursday. Just a little more than a week ago, the senior guard earned All-Mountain West recognition.
Zerblis had a significant impact on Rams’ offense, which now ranks 31st in all of FBS with 223 rushing yards per game. A team captain five times this season, Zerblis helped anchor an offensive line that ranks 12th in the country, allowing a mere 1.08 sacks per game.
Mike Bobo’s offensive line paved the way for a three-headed monster at running back for CSU. Zerblis and company helped Izzy Matthews, Dalyn Dawkins and Marvin Kinsey rush for a combined 2,052 yards and 22 touchdowns.
CSU will meet the Idaho Vandals in the Potato Bowl on Dec. 22.
